Postpartum Prep – Freezer Meals

13535847_10102737493363562_60223837_n

Today’s video shows Miguel spending the day preparing freezer meals for our postpartum period. We decided to do this months ago to cut back on the time spent cooking when baby gets here and to make sure we’re not relying too much on eating out. Last Saturday we finally got it all together and knocked it out – Miguel cooked ALL day long!

Here’s a list of what we ended up with – each box is a meal or side for two:

I hope this gives you some ideas and inspires you to prepare some meals for your postpartum time as well!

37 Weeks Pregnant!

13518054_10102737250774712_1700935691_o

Baby’s size: Around 19.25 inches & 6.3 lbs.

Symptoms: Emotional, heartburn and reflux – I sleep with a peppermint in my mouth most of the time to keep the heartburn away, HOT, big appetite (although I’ve lost a couple of pounds this past week), hand and feet swelling. I’ve had a pretty good amount of energy lately, but tire fast when I’m active. Big movements in there!

Bump: 13569870_10102737120146492_1141313327_o

Cravings: Sweets, milkshakes, anything with sugar really. I’ve tried to rid the house of it so I don’t over-indulge!

Appointments: I’ve been bumped up to weekly midwife appointments now! Crazy! (More about midwife appointment in update video below). I’m still seeing the chiropractor weekly as well. We had two classes this past Sunday – Birth Center Practices then Labor & Comfort Measures.

Looking forward to: Getting my labor & postpartum prep wrapped up so I can relax and wait for baby!

Labor Prep: Evening Primrose Oil, Raspberry Leaf Tea, & Medjool Dates.

36 Weeks Pregnant!

13518142_10102725865176542_402846787_o

36 weeks. 9 months. Embracing the heartburn, the weight gain, the swollen feet, the summer heat, the constant foot in my rib that I love so much, the emotions of wanting my baby here but not wanting him to leave me yet. Preparing my home, preparing my body, preparing my mind. Last summer was filled with visits to the fertility center, ultrasounds, shots, medicines, acupuncture and never-ending bad news. This summer God will let me meet my son. You never know what life will bring.

Baby’s size: Around 18.75 inches & 5.75 lbs.

Symptoms: The worst heartburn I’ve had so far, SWELLING – hands and feet, so much swelling, emotional, hard to get around, achey, HOT. This past week has been the first that I have felt HUGE and almost ready to get this baby here!

Cravings: I finally got my Red Lobster last week! No new cravings..yet.

Appointments: I have a midwife appointment Thursday and we have 2 classes on Sunday at the birth center – Birth Center Practices & Comfort Measures for Labor.

Fun purchases: We had our baby shower last Saturday and had a great day celebrating our little on with friends and family! Now that it’s over, I went on Target and Amazon to order the necessities for baby that we didn’t receive.

Looking forward to: Finishing up the nursery and getting the house ready for baby and postpartum. Meeting this baby! Other than a few classes and appointments we don’t have a lot going on over the next few weeks, which I’m happy about, but could make the wait seem a lot longer!

Cravings: Still wanting Red Lobster!

Appointments: I go for my 36 week midwife appointment next week and I’m still seeing the chiropractor weekly.

Fun purchases: No purchases lately but that will change next week when we finish up getting any newborn necessities!!

Looking forward to: Our baby shower on Saturday! It’s finally almost here! Getting so close to meeting my son – I can’t believe he’ll be here soon. I love him so much already!

13383787_10102693942844152_594812732_o

Symptoms: Heartburn, emotional, tire easy, acne, lot of baby stretches – my favorite thing in the world.

Cravings: Nature Valley’s Oat & Honey granola bars! And Red Lobster – I really need some Red Lobster!

Appointments: I don’t go back to for a midwife appointment until June 23. I’m seeing the chiropractor weekly now. We had our third trimester visit with our doula last week. We also had a breastfeeding class last week which was super informative!

Fun purchases: We haven’t purchased anything, but last week Miguel’s coworkers threw us a baby shower and were so kind to treat us to lunch, cupcakes, and gifts for the baby.

Looking forward to: Our baby shower on the 18th!

My Birth Plan for a Natural Birth

13321237_10102681543148242_875904803_o

In today’s video I discuss my Birth Plan for a natural birth in a hospital setting. While I am planning to deliver at a birth center where a birth plan is not necessary, I am taking this with me in case of a transfer to the hospital.

That hospital is on it’s way to being a certified baby-friendly hospital so this plan is a bit more detailed than it may need to be but I wanted to leave all things included, especially as I share it with you.

I’ve uploaded my Birth Plan for you to view and you can click HERE to watch the video for many more details and explanations.

I encourage the use of the website evidencebasedbirth.com when researching your birth choices.
